Instant indexing of your site or blog now part of your swicki

5:43 pm - March 16, 2006 in Eurekster Blog

As part of your swicki you can include search results from your own site or blog at the top of the search results. We now have a much improved service that will instantly start indexing your site or blog. While the indexing starts straight away it can take a couple of hours to complete. We have updated the index of all existing swickis too - it should be a big improvement so let us know how you find it.

Updated edit buzzcloud page

4:52 pm - March 19, 2006 in Eurekster Blog

The edit buzzcloud page has been updated so there are three columns of search tags:

  • The first column is a list of search tags that users have typed into your swicki search box and you can choose to add or block these terms. This is an automatically generated list of suggested search tags you may wish to add to your buzzcloud. The number next to the search tag shows how many times people have searched for it from your swicki

  • The second column is a list of search tags that are blocked from appearing in your buzzcloud. Search tags listed here will never appear in your buzzcloud and never be suggested to be added to the buzzcloud

  • The third column is the list of search tags that can appear in your buzzcloud. If the number of tags is larger than the number of tags that appear then a random selection from this list will be taken. If you have a long list then each time you refresh your buzzcloud you will notice different tags appear.
  • We have a number of ideas for other features to give users more control over the buzzcloud so let us know your preferences.

Notification of new activity on your swicki – lets you know your swicki is alive!

    5:56 pm - March 19, 2006 in Eurekster Blog

Swicki owners will now receive emails notifications about new search tags that you may wish to add to your buzzcloud. We compile these lists of search tags from how people use your swicki and adding them will make the buzzcloud more interesting for your users. This is similar to how bloggers approve comments posted on their blog. By default your notifications will happen instantly but for busier swickis you can choose to get a daily or weekly summary of activity to approve.

Share your swicki with the world

    11:00 pm - April 18, 2006 in Eurekster Blog

You can now let other people install your swicki on their site or blog and build the size of community that uses your swicki. From "my swicki" click on the "get code" link. At the bottom of that page is a link that you can give to anyone to allow them to post your swicki on their site or blog while you still retain the moderation rights etc.

    Advertising Changes

    9:20 pm - March 28, 2007 in Eurekster Blog

As you may have noticed we have been experimenting with advertising on swickis offering a range of alternatives. As part of this we are learning what is and is not working and as a result we are removing the Preferred Placement option for most swickis and refunding any money that advertisers have credited to their accounts. Watch out for more changes as we continue to experiment to work out the best way for your swickis to make money.
